1988 Topps #409 - Joel McKeon

On this day in 1988, the Chicago White Sox sent Joel McKeon to the San Diego Padres to complete a trade from October 5, 1987, where the Padres sent the Sox Ed Wojna.

Joel appeared in forty-three games for the Pale Hose in 1986 and 1987, all in relief. On June 6, 1986, McKeon relieved pitcher Bob James in the ninth inning with one out at Comiskey Park in Chicago. Pinch hitter Mike Davis grounded out to first allowing Jerry Willard to advance to third base, but Joel got Tony Phillips to fly out to left field for his only MLB save.
