Game Of My Life

There was a time, not too long ago, where I couldn't find a book on the Chicago White Sox to save my life. Now, their appears to be numerous books coming out. I suppose that has something to do with winning a World Series a few years ago. But if that's the case, how does one explain all those Cubs books?

I ran across this book by accident. "Game Of My Life: Chicago White Sox: Memorable Stories of White Sox Baseball" by Lew Freedman. It shaped up to be a great look at memories from the players themselves.

For a hardcover book, it's not priced too badly. It comes out in April 2008. It might be something to check out, even if you're not a White Sox fan. It sounds like it's going to have some very interesting stories in it. I don't know about you, but I like this trend.

Here's the description, as seen on Amazon.com:

"More than 20 former and current Pale Hose players share their fondest single-game White Sox experience and memories with the Chicago Tribune's Lew Freedman. Many of these moments have helped shape the White Soxs rich heritage in Chicago. Billy Pierce, Scott Podsednik, Mark Buehrle, Greg Walker, Bobby Jenks, Turk Lown, and Gerry Staley are but a few of the legendary stars who discuss the games of their lives. This book is the ticket for White Sox fans to travel back in time alongside many of their heroes to experience the moments that have shaped the South Siders during the teams 107-year history. Lew Freedman is a sportswriter for the Chicago Tribune, where he has served as the newspapers outdoors reporter for more than five years. In addition, he contributes to coverage of Chicago's many sports teams, including the White Sox, Bears, and local college basketball teams. The author of 24 books, Freedman has won numerous journalism awards."

It sounds like a good read to me. I like books like this about any team. I may be a White Sox fan first and foremost, but I am still a huge baseball fan. I love to delve into the history of baseball, especially from a new point of view. I guess there will be yet another reason to look forward to April this year.
