4-7-08: Twins 4 - Sox 7

April 7, 2008 - Chicago, Illinois

Q. What's the difference between 2007 and 2008?
A. A 5 game win streak.

The White Sox did not string together 5 wins at all last year. This year, they've accomplished that in the first seven games. What a difference a year makes!

Javier Vazquez pitched 7 strong innings. The offense kept the team in the game, then broke out at the right time. Joey Cora is now 1-0 in games that he's forced to manage, since Ozzie Guillen was thrown out for arguing balls and strikes. It was a fair assessment. The plate seemed to jump all over today.

The good:
Joe Crede's grand slam to break a 3-3 tie off a tough Pat Neshek.

Javier Vazquez's strong outing.

The bad:
The Twins stole two bases.

Those pesky Twins kept getting on base.

The ugly:
Ozzie Guillen's ejection for arguing balls and strikes.

Scott Linebrink's somewhat shaky inning of work.

The Twins brought a good game, but they were no match for "Late Inning Joe" Crede. The Sox continue to take advantage of opportunities that the opposition gives them. It also helped that every Sox batter had at least one hit.

If the Sox keep up this pace, it should be a wonderful year. There will be some tough losses and some losing streaks along the way, but the Sox are already in better shape than 2007.
