Today marks the one year anniversary of this blog. In honor of that event, I am reposting the first image used in a post. This was from the second post and the first card spotlight.
Over the past year, this blog has grown from a man simply thinking it would be cool to post and comment on White Sox cards to the blog that you read today. There have been successes and a few missteps. I have befriended many cool, interesting and generous people in the blogosphere.
While I still write the blog for myself, I am very aware that I'm not the only one reading it anymore. I think that's great! Part of the fun of writing this is to see other people's point of view about the same subjects. I enjoy reading the comments left and the private e-mails that are sent.
One aspect that I could not imagine one year ago, would be the amount of trades and card gifting that I have been the beneficiary of during the past year. Every trade has been special, no matter what the size. I have cherished every trade that came my way. Part of the reason why I try to list every card I receive through trades is because each one is special. Sometimes I'm only energetic enough to list the cards that I needed out of the trade, but every single card is appreciated.
The bonds that I have shared over images on cardboard are ones that I will always remember and ones that I hope will last a lifetime. We may root for different teams and points of view may differ, but we can all agree on the one common thread that we all share... baseball cards.
During the past year, the blogosphere has lost some good blogs, which I hope will return someday, but this community keeps gaining members. This is probably the most exciting time for me. Even more exciting than when I first started the blog. It seems that most teams have their fans from these blogs that we write. I love seeing the opinions of fans of other teams.
Hopefully, this blog will continue to grow, or at least not regress, over the next year and beyond. I want to thank everyone who has made this a regular stop and even those who only occasionally stop by. Every visit is appreciated. Every comment is read. Would I still do this if no one read it? Yeah, but it certainly wouldn't be as enjoyable. Thanks for making this past year such a success!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI check in all the time thanks to Google Reader.
I'm glad I was able to post about your blog on your one-year anniversary!! Even if it was a coincidence. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteVery well said! Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Steve! Here's to a bunch more years.
ReplyDeleteSteve, congrats! How many posts did you make in the first year?
ReplyDelete867 posts for the first year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the well wishes!
Yours was one of the first baseball card blogs I started reading when it occurred to me last January or so that there might be such a thing as baseball card blogs. I remember being pretty impressed with your output. You're still going strong. 867 posts?! I;m still reading and I can't say that bout some of the blogs I've sampled over the past 10 months.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cliff! That means a lot!
