August 3

1987 Fleer #645 - Russ Morman/Ron Karkovice

On this day in 1986, Russ Morman collected three hits in his first three MLB at-bats.

Starting at first base in his MLB debut, Russ hit a single to left off of Detroit Tigers pitcher Randy O'Neal in the bottom of the second inning to collect his first hit. Morman led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run. The White Sox batted around, forcing O'Neal out and bringing Jim Slaton in. Russ hit a single to center off of Slaton, still in the bottom of the fourth inning, driving in Jerry Hairston.

Morman was drafted by the White Sox in 1983. He played with the Sox in 1986, 1988 and 1989, before he was released by the Pale Hose after the 1989 season. He has played with the Kansas City Royals (who originally drafted him in 1981) and the Florida Marlins. Russ last played in the majors in 1997, for the Marlins.
