On this day in 1977, Jack Brohamer was granted free agency.
Jack hit .253 between the 1976 and 1977 campaigns. While he appeared in 119 games in the 197 season, his playing time dwindled to only 59 games in 1977. Brohamer was the odd man out when the Sox got Richie Zisk and Oscar Gamble through free agency. Jorge Orta moved back to the infield and Jack was left without a permanent position. He landed on the Red Sox in 1978.
