Card #24 - Wally Moses
For the first time since the inaugural All-Star game in 1933, the
All-Star game was cancelled. Due to wartime travel restrictions for
World War II, the 1945 All-Star game was cancelled on April 24, 1945.
No players were ever "officially" selected to the All-Star rosters, but
the Associated Press and The Sporting News selected their own roster, so
fans could dream about the All-Star game that never was.
Wally was selected to the All-Star team by the Associated Press as a reserve outfielder. Moses led the American League in doubles in 1945. Wally was also selected for the 1937 All-Star game as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics.
