2008 Topps Heritage Trade Days

There are many of us who are actively collecting the 2008 Topps Heritage baseball set. I am one of them. When completed, this will be my first hand collated set. I'm pretty excited about that!

Many of you have selfishly helped me to complete most of the set. I have 77 cards out of 502 of the base set left to go. Basically, 75 cards and the two variation cards. I also have 25 out of 110 left to collect on the black backs. I only have a handful of cards from each subset to complete.

What does that mean? It means that I have a ton of doubles from this set! The page with my 2008 Topps Heritage want list is here. If you can help and/or need any cards from the set, e-mail me and we will set up a dialogue. We may be able to help each other get closer to completing our sets.

We must combine our efforts. That line made me think of Mallrats, but I couldn't find a video for that. So, I'm treating you to the Easter Bunny scene. There is a little foul language and violence to a childhood icon, so be warned. This is not exactly work or young child friendly.

2008 Topps Heritage Box Break

OK, it's been a busy night. Opening and sorting everything was hectic. Plus, slightly altering the contest from its original intention at the last minute was mind numbing. I originally was going to give away the majority of the cards, but two things happened. I only found two White Sox cards and I really fell in love with this set!

I did not get any doubles in the box, so that threw me a little as well. So, I decided to give away the non-White Sox premiums from the box. Basically, everything that wasn't the basic set, basic variations and basic subsets. And no, I didn't get any White Sox premiums.

Yeah, I don't make things easy on myself. I know. I need help. I've already had a "name your price" e-mail for the buyback, but that was set aside for the contest and claimed as the first card taken in the Heritage Contests.

Overall, this was a pretty good box. Someone has put some bad mojo on me. I got a newly acquired player who is now injured and a player who looks like a fat teddy bear and is fighting for a position as my two White Sox players.

I seem to have gotten a butt-load of almost every other team though. I haven't tallied these into teams, since I decided to do the unthinkable and collect the whole damn thing. Plus, a separate White Sox team set. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment. And... loving it.

I Finally Got The Heritage Box

I finally got my 2008 Topps Heritage hobby box in the mail today. The postal carrier dropped the mail off at noon. There was no box. The doorbell rang around 5:30 and another postal carrier dropped the box off.

In the box, I got one advertising panel, one buyback card, a few chromes and a relic. Not too bad.

For those in the pool, my first White Sox card came in the 12th pack, 8th card. It was a Carlos Quentin black back. A few packs later, I got my only other White Sox card. A regular Juan Uribe. That's it. No more.

I have decided that I want to actually collect this entire set. I like it that much. I've always had a soft spot for the 1959 set, so it's not that surprising of a move. I also didn't get any doubles in the box, which is shocking.

Now, for the contest details!

Once a day, at random times, I will ask a question. The first one to respond correctly in the comments will get their choice of a prize. There will be 4 chrome cards, 1 relic, 1 buyback and 1 advertising panel to choose from. The first question will be sometime tonight. There will be a question each day (or night), until all the prizes are won.

2008 Topps Heritage Gamble

Well, instead of using my excess PayPal money to purchase a classic White Sox card or keep it towards my goal of that Joe Jackson bat card, I used some of it for a hobby box of 2008 Topps Heritage. It must be the 1959 design. I'm a sucker for it.

Out of my brilliance, or stupidity, the reader may eventually benefit. Since this is a pre-order, I will devise some type of contest between now and the time this arrives at my door. I'll give away some of the contents of this box. Any White Sox cards are mine. I'll divvy the rest of the cards between my eBay store and you. Don't worry, I'll leave some good stuff for the readers.

It may have to do with White Sox trivia or movie quotes or something like that. I have some time to decide exactly what. One thing will be certain, cards will be given away. More than likely, the contest will have some White Sox angle. Unfortunately, I don't have the fancy equipment to do a video box break, so there won't be that fun. Rest assured, I'll have fun opening the packs and the reader will reap some of the benefits.
