30 Day Horror Challenge: Day 9

There have been enough sleazy horror films made that one could argue that exploitation is what horror movies actually are. The seventies are ripe with these types of films, like no other period. Through companies like Troma, Anchor Bay and countless others, movies like these have found an audience.

Your favorite exploitation / grind house type film.
Blood Sucking Freaks (1976)

Originally titled "The Incredible Torture Show" upon its initial release, this film is perhaps the most notorious of the horror exploitation movies. When Troma acquired the rights to this, they changed the title to "Blood Sucking Freaks", which it is sold under.

The plot involves Sardu and his little assistant Ralphus bringing a Theatre of the Macabre to life. Using real people on stage, Sardu's act consists of torturing these poor unfortunate souls to death in front of a paying audience. That's just what's shown to the customers. The real torture is backstage.

There are scenes included that feature a human dart board, living furniture, dentistry, and odd uses of straws. This film is the apex of horror exploitation.

"My mother taught me. I used the whole chicken. The secret is cooking it alive."
