On this day in 1968, Sammy Sosa was born.
Sosa came to the White Sox through a trade with the Texas Rangers in 1989. While with the Sox, he was known more for his speed and defensive lapses than his power stroke. It was only after he was traded away before the 1992 season, that Sammy discovered what it took to hit monster home runs.
Sosa only hit twenty-eight home runs for the White Sox in two and a half seasons. Sammy would ultimately hit six hundred nine home runs in his eighteen season career.
