On this day in 1994, Charley Smith died.
Charley was acquired by the White Sox on November 28, 1961 through a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies. Smith made it into sixty-five games during the 1962 season, but spent the majority of 1963 in the minors. During his time with the parent club, Charley hit .257, with two homers and eighteen RBI. On April 23, 1964, Charley was traded to the Mets.
