On this day in 1983, the White Sox signed Joe DeSa as a free agent.
Joe played twenty-eight games with the White Sox in 1985, his last being on October 3rd against Seattle, where he had a pinch-hit single which scored Ozzie Guillen in the bottom of the ninth inning. This would turn out to be his last MLB game. Joe would be killed in an automobile accident on the morning of December 20, 1985 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, where he was playing winter ball with the Ponce Lions.
