On this day in 1935, the White Sox released Sad Sam Jones.
Sam came to the White Sox through a trade with the Senators on December 4, 1931. He spent his final four seasons with the Sox, posting a 36-46 record with 222 strikeouts in 105 games. Thirty-nine of those games were complete games.
