On this day in 1968, Shingo Takatsu was born.
Shingo signed as a free agent with the White Sox on January 22, 2004. Earning nineteen saves for the Sox in 2004, Shingo's entrance was a spectacle. At his insistence, a gong was played as he entered towards the pitching mound. Eventually the league figured his pitching style out and Shingo didn't make enough adjustments. He was released on August 1, 2005. He still received a World Series ring for his contributions to the 2005 team.
