The Boston Red Sox are the team that no one remembers Tom Seaver being on. The Mets come first, then the White Sox, then the Cincinnati Reds. The Boston Red Sox was the last team that Tom Terrific was on and it is the absolute last team you imagine him being on.
Number 41 goes to Tom Seaver. He is a Hall of Fame pitcher with 311 career wins and 3,640 career strikeouts. The reason that Tom will always be remembered in a White Sox uniform is win #300.
Tom was with the White Sox from 1984 until June 29, 1986. In that time he had a record of 33-28 with 296 strikeouts. 1984 and 1985 were great years for Tom. When he started the 1986 season off with a 2-6 record, he was shipped off to Boston for Steve "Psycho" Lyons.
There would be no Cy Youngs and no trips to the All-Star game in a White Sox uniform, but Tom's 300th win will always be remembered by White Sox fans. Sox fans always appreciate a guy who has a strong work ethic and gets results. Tom was finishing off a brilliant career and Chicago was lucky enough to host that for two and a half years. No other number 41 comes close to Tom Terrific.
