I guess I'm getting the hang of this trading on The Bench. I wouldn't do this everytime, but occasionally it nice for something different. This trade saw me beef up my Fisk collection a bit.
The Red Sox cards are easy. They go straight in the Fisk collection. The White Sox cards are more difficult. First they go into the White Sox collection. Then, when that spot is filled, a second card goes into the Fisk collection. There is some overlap this way, but both collections will be complete this way.
Yes, I do the same thing with Baines cards. This is why I don't mind doubles or triples of Fisk and Baines cards. They all have their proper places.
I made a trade with Jsneeze50. The thing I've noticed most of all on The Bench, is that the traders there almost always go for book value. It seems to be a different animal than blog trading. That's OK though. I usually end up giving more in value anyway in blog trades, so I guess this evens it out. I don't really keep score, I just know my nature. My nature is to be generous.
What did Jsneeze50 get?
2007 Moments & Milestones #24 - Chipper Jones (81) 29/29
2007 Moments & Milestones #80 - Mike Piazza (52) 6/29
2007 Moments & Milestones #165 - Mickey Mantle (13) 19/29
What did I get?
1992 Leaf Black Gold 303 Carlton Fisk
1992 Topps Gold 630 Carlton Fisk
2001 Upper Deck Decade 1970's Dynasties D6 Carlton Fisk
2002 Diamond Kings Bronze Foil 135 Carlton Fisk
2003 Donruss Elite All-Time Career Best 21 Carlton Fisk
2003 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites 21 Carlton Fisk
2005 Sweet Spot Classic 12 Carlton Fisk
2003 Topps Gallery HOF 64 Carlton Fisk Red Ltr
2004 Greats of the Game 145 Carlton Fisk W.Sox (2)
Like I said, it's based on book value. I appear to get more out of the deal, but it evens out value-wise. I'm happy with the deal. I get to add 10 new Fisk cards.
Fisk Red Sox cards are somewhat of a weakness. I just started to seriously collect his Red Sox cards last year. I had a few hanging around since I was a kid, but not too much to brag about. I think my biggest deal back then was a 1979 Topps Fisk card. I picked it up from a sleazeball dealer that wanted to charge me double what it was worth. When he was going out of business, I was able to talk him down to half it's book value.
I'm just happy I got new Fisk cards!
