#2 - Nellie Fox

Next up is #2 - Nellie Fox.

Since Nellie's uniform number is retired, there is no debate that he is the best player to wear his number on the White Sox.

Nellie has the credentials. He was the AL MVP in 1959. He played 14 seasons with the White Sox. He is a member of the Hall of Fame as a White Sox player.

With only 216 strikeouts in over 9,200 at-bats, he ranks the 3rd best percentage in MLB history. In 2006, he was honored with his own statue at US Cellular Field.

This guy was nothing but trouble for opposing pitchers. At 5'9" and 160 lbs. Fox was more of a force at the plate than most of the big guys like Colavito or Kuehn. It was great to watch him hit or even field and was a potent part of Chicago's double play combo of Aparicio and Fox. Made a kid feel good to be a Sox fan in the 50's. Did'nt matter if you watched on WGN or saw Fox at the park. He adds class to the HOF. Wish he were still around.
